Get your photography questions answered by Photo Sister
If you’ve caught on to the Old Spice Man’s recent viral video campaign, where a buffed, half-naked man answers all your questions from Twitter in a towel – you’d love Photo Sister.
Photo Sister is a blog which brings conversations with women photographers to you, via video interview.
Instead of ‘old spice man’ with his washboard abs in a towel, you get the lovely LaRae Lobdell who’s equally as charming – interviewing experienced professional women photographers giving tips on things like how to start up your own photography business and being aware of your background.

Photo Sister’s philosophy is similar to ChiqClicks – which is to create a space where women photographers can learn from one another.
You can ask Photo Sister any photography related question or topic by posting a comment on PhotoSister.com or drop LaRae a Tweet or Facebook message:

To kick things off, here’s a question from one of ChiqClick’s readers; infant, toddler and baby portraiture photographer Asther Lau (Malaysia) -
Since you travel so much (as a destination wedding photographer), what’s your advice on how to pack your equipment and other essentials light and efficiently. And, what are your favorite outfits & make-up for destination shoots? -Asther Lau-

Thank you for the great questions, Asther!
Packing: I use the Think Tank Photo “Airport International™ V 2.0†(http://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/airport-international-v2-roller-camera-bag.aspx) which is amazing. I pack seven lenses, two flash units, two digital camera bodies and one film body, with my rolls of film and CF cards in a tidy plastic bag to hand to the TSA officials to hand-check when going through security. [A big tip when going through security at airports: be extremely polite and patient and they will get you through quickly.] I also make sure to include gaffer tape and a surge protector amongst all the peripherals. For the computer, external hard drives and paperwork, the Think Tank Airport Check In™ is my lifesaver (http://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/airport-checkin-computer-case.aspx). I check one suitcase with all my clothes, makeup, Shootsac lens bag (http://shootsac.com), tripod and monopod.
Clothing: I pack one comfortable dress that I can shoot in (usually my MODA International knee-length black dress) with a pair of black flats, a couple other cute dresses and a pair flip-flops to location scout in, and one light sweater and one pair of pants. If I need anything else, I use that as an excuse to shop for a small item in another country
Makeup: I keep it light and simple: moisturizer, foundation, blush, water-proof mascara and two kinds of lip gloss (my vice). One other item I’m sure to pack, is a small emergency kit that includes scissors, thread, fingernail clippers, tissues, band-aids, etc.
It still seems like a lot, but that’s my bare minimum when traveling for work.
Thank you again, and feel free to contact me anytime with more questions!
Your answers will sure come in handy when I plan my trip overseas next time.
Thanks a bunch, girl!
